before dj gregory was point g. point g is an alias used by the french produced to explore a gritty, raw sound steeped in abstract vibes but with a very basic approach, which makes it all the more captivating making a strong impact on the underground scene in the 90s, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw ep, on the raw again ep…. originals vinyl copies of many of point gs early tracks are notoriously hard to find, giving this comeback even more kudos.

2015 repress ! passionate advocates of vinyl, apollonia re-press point gs rare classic underwater, the first in a number of their personal out-of-stock favourites. the archetypal track of the paris afterhours that encapsulates the sound of the batofar kwality parties, a memory which is at the very core and stimulus of apollonia... underwater was a favourite of the trio back in 1998 and continues to be a record bag must-have in 2013. moody, bassy, a freaky lose-yourself-moment in the spaced-out melody, this deep house classic is being re-pressed for the first time exclusively on apollonia. a production project of dj gregory, the point g imprint created in the mid 90s offered a dark, raw interpretation of us deep house, given his alternative french twist. making a strong impact on the underground scene at the time, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw and on the raw again eps, hence original copies of many of his early tracks are extremely scarce

we are honoured to present the milan-based duo carol consisting of damian and fedex. fedex has been collecting records and dj-ing since the age of 15 when the italian club and rave scene was about to explode. after many years of dj-ing and producing music in italy and germany he found his home in milan by joining the cockette party crew where he expressed his musical versatility and love for dancefloor shaking. damian started out in londons late 90s electroclash scene with the cult electro band damian and the puzzy france and later on approached techno and house as a promoter and dj.

alex font repeats in oblack- only like the best and he does it showing the most acidic and clubby version of that the real house that permeates their sound from start to finish. this acid flow is the fifteenth reference of the pastorial label commanded by snna and nacho arauz- from ibiza the valencian alex font presents us with an original passage of festive house, trotter and no-friend of the depressions where the legendary sound of the roland tb-303 is the pacesetter, disguises the soul and adds foundation to the track. and, since it breaks the acidic sound through antonomasia, this acid flow, shows his playful and fun side. this is a bright and optimistic theme, designed and checked to make us dance with a smile on our face, no doubt. a bare-chested tribute to those early 90s when electronics was all about joy and effervescence.

more nordic talents knocking on the door with some proper house! junk yard connections is the debut release of stocktown duo laguna ladies. aside of the original there are remixes by moomin and baba stiltz. moomin give us a flashback to the 90s bouncy yard, with sunshine and blunts when baba flipping the happy acid vibe up side down and goes into the techno wildness. great to see junk yard connection going so strong!

after many uk based producers, its time again for some homeboys. elvis is a young dj and producer from zurich/switzerland and his humney ep is his first full release to date.humney is that catchy house tune with a touch of the 90s house sound, with a great bass line, sexy vocals (from the lovely choklate) and solid beats. the up and coming palace (hot haus records) adds a rougher vibe with his remix, but its still humney. the way is taking a deeper direction and shows that elvis cassetta is definitely a name to watch out for!

having previously kept their re-edit series in-house, leeds-based crate-diggers joe s bakery have invited moton (aka london veterans diesel and dave jarvis) to deliver the latest release. those who ve followed the moton records inc series (active since the 90s) will know what to expect: expert re-rubs of obscure material that get the right balance between dancefloor chops and home listening selections. look out for the odd shuffle and electric piano solos of -moody blues-, the percussive early 80s, synth-heavy live disco brilliance of -zoo- (yes, it s definitely balearic) and the hazy, midtempo disco-funk of -bumps-. it s getting progressively hard to find worthwhile re-edit 12- singles, but this one s a genuine killer

ecstatic welcomes l/f/d/m to the fold with his debut record m is a shape. l/f/d/m is london based producer richard smith. l/f/d/m first emerged in 2013, inaugurating the optimo trax series with the purple maps ep. in 2014 he teamed up with factory floors dominic butler to release two eps of hardware-driven atonal techno on powells diagonal records. m is a shape bristles with cloudy, industrial, stripped down acid/techno, landing somewhere between berghain, the warehouse sound of the late 90s and the caustic spirit of ebm.

the maaskant polychoral style was a type of music of the late modern electronics and early indie eras which involved spatially separate voices singing in alternation. it represented a major stylistic shift from the prevailing polyphonic writing of the early electronic generation, and was one of the major stylistic developments of the 90s which led directly to the formation of what we now know as the pure modern style. a commonly encountered term for the separated analog choirs is cori analogici spezzati — literally, phased choirs. the a-side, featuring eyo olokun, signifies unfathomable deep grooves. that is, the instinct that there is something worth knowing, perhaps more than can ever be learned, especially this bassline that most people spend a lifetime pondering.

since the labels inception, sistrum has kept an ear to the future while always keeping its roots firmly planted in the rich musical heritage of early house and techno – raw, real & unfathomably deep. in keeping with this ethos, sistrum proudly presents a true chicago original, mr. brian harden. three classic, late 90s cuts are brought together for a new generation of music lovers to enjoy, never before available as a 12inch release. simply, timeless.

londoners kiwi and ashworth return to sneaky for a follow-up to dawn ep, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of daniel avery, eric duncan and tiefschwarz. the past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with kiwi signing to duke dumont s blase boys club and remixing for house music super-labels bpitch control and get physical, whilst ashworth has signed music to tomoki tamura s holic trax and needwant. second ep takes a new format, with two original tracks alaska and na am on the a-side, backed up by a nicholas & marcoradi remix of cux3 and ranacat s remix of zubr. alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of cux3, the comforting wurlitzer of zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack dusk. na am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the chemical brothers. strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. the b-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with nicholas and marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst sneaky s ranacat lifts zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

last year accidental records released herbert complete, a 130- track boxset featuring herberts entire extensive back catalogue. it included rare and unreleased tracks from the mid 90s right up to the critically acclaimed bodily functions and scale albums. though this might have felt like the closing of the doors for matthew herberts house moniker, particularly with the ever forward-thinking producer having moved onto making music out of an exploding bomb, a shopping list, a club and even a pig, this thankfully is not the end for this side of the prolific composers output. following last months release of the 4-track ep part 6 comes the unsurprisingly titled part 7.
